The bureau team was commissioned to develop the exhibition design for a project dedicated to the art of the architectural model. The core of the exhibition consists of numerous three-dimensional objects, inherently complex in terms of display and spatial integration. As a conceptual framework, the design adopts the matrix as a leitmotif—an idea introduced by the curator as a means of structuring and systematizing heterogeneous material.

The architectural model is understood here as a cognitive instrument—an operative tool of architectural thinking that functions across multiple stages, from academic experimentation to project presentation. The curatorial task required the material to be organized into a coherent spatial narrative, enabling the visitor to navigate the layered history of model-making practices. The two-dimensional matrix was inscribed onto the museum’s floor plan, after which the design process focused on defining its modular unit and determining its spatial increment.

The project introduced a structural solution previously unexplored by the bureau: a system of intricately interwoven metal frameworks, within which the exhibits are embedded, forming a continuous spatial field.

The entrance zone is conceptually derived from the exhibition title, Inside the City. Upon entry, visitors are immersed in an abstracted urban environment composed of models and cubic elements, seemingly suspended within a blue structural grid. This spatial device materializes the curator’s concept while simultaneously referencing the typology of propylea—the monumental gateways of ancient architecture. This association resonates with the exhibition content, which includes references to the architectural principles of Vitruvius.
