‘Kukryniksy’ is a large exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the union of three artists, Michael Kuprianov, Porfirii Krylov and Nikolai Sokolov.

We know Kukryniksy’s group as a greatest graphic and poster artists. Their name is a synonymous to whole soviet satiric caricature. Central exhibition lane is dedicated to the work of artists during World War II. There are 15 posters and we created a geometrical construction for showcase them. Most impressive and dramatic hall is dedicated to ROSTA windows and World War II works by Kukryniksy. Through the ‘iron curtain’ (portal between two exhibition areas) we are getting in monochrome space about ‘The Marshal’s plan’ and ‘Nunrberg proccess’.

Scaffolding is the main design solution for this project. This is a symbol of young USSR, which developed so quickly and headlong. Like an invisible witness the soviet government was a key institution which contributed to career of the artists.

We chose this color for a reason — this is shade of the main book of Kukryniksy. Lemon, not just a yellow, is an acrid color that makes your teeth ache. Partly you can experience such feeling just watching some pictures by the artists. As opposed to lemon active color is calm blue. There you can get acquainted with the personal stories of the artists and see their paintings. Among them are sketches from travels, portraits of artist’s close ones and still-lifes.
