Lunarium is a new permanent exhibition, located in Moscow Planetarium. The large exposition on two levels of museum will be a smart playground for all ages.
Lunarium has different scripts of learning in common indivisible space. On the first level of the exposition — ‘Earth Exploration’ — we get into a bright wide area with many interactive installations. Then, descending the stairs to the second level, we dive into the ‘Space Exploration’ level to see exhibits under the starry sky. A precise mockup of the moon in the center of the atrium unites the two levels of the museum, which differ stylistically and functionally.
One of the main issue we faced when preparing the Lunarium project was a wide variety of exhibits randomly located in the museum space. Together with the scientific department of the Moscow Planetarium, we developed a concept according to which all the objects were coordinated with each other and built into a single narrative, accessible to discover from different sides.
