«In the arts, as in life, everything is possible provided it is based on love. I have always painted pictures where human love floods my colors. Only love interests me, and I am only in contact with things I love», — this is how Marc Chagall himself explained his art. And this is how the key theme of the exhibition was defined. Chagall’s art is imbued with love, and so is the intimate exposition at the Altmans Gallery.
The visitors find themselves at Chagall’s place, in his apartment in Paris. The exhibition concept is based on his workshop interiors: colorful carpets, lampshades and Chagall’s quotes on the walls. This cozy, somewhat familiar, even intimate ambiance reveals the artist’s notion of love and tenderness.
The exhibition unites more than 20 works, including colored and black-and-white lithographs. The symbolic centre — «Lovers With Red Sun». Chagall’s colors do not simply mimic the reality, but create their own. And in this new artistic world the feeling take over the empirical reality, they soar, they float through the skies… And invite the visitors to join.
