Telnyashkas, trench coats, galliffet trousers — all these are already so familiar in our casual wardrobes. But how did they get there? Аs well as double-breasted suits, belt buckles, patch pockets and Bretons well as double-breasted suits, belt buckles, patch pockets and Breton caps? They all turned casual, though initially found their roots in military uniform.
«#NotAboutWar» is the space to rethink the military style, its past and its contemporary variations. The exposition unites authentic uniforms with modern day designs. The Red Army uniform opens the space of history and museumification. Everyday items, inspired by military paraphernalia, lead the visitors to the space of present — where military style is no longer even recognized as such. Thus the museum exhibits neighbor contemporary brands, their clothes and accessories: Ulyana Sergeenko, À la Russe, Gourji, Laroom, Masterpeace, Olovo.
The exhibition itself is a peaceful manifestation, despite the all-military ambience. The eclectic mixture of past and present inspired the artistic solution and set design. Exposition podiums are shaped as pointed stars and peace signs. Even the mannequins themselves are actually the art-objects — they were created by contemporary brand ARCHPOLE.
