«Open City» is an architecture festival, hosted by the Museum of Architecture. ‘Right to the city was’ announced as a general theme for 2021. We’ve been reflecting on this subject and looked at several meanings: the right to live in the city, the right to influence, the right to remember, and the right to exchange. But where the interests of all those involved come into play, only communication sets the boundaries. What is freedom and where are the limits?

The main character of “Open City” is City as an alive system that changes and adapts to residents. The main goal of “Open City” is to represent meanings and feelings, unspoken questions, anxieties, and hopes for the future of citizens. The hopes are made as paradoxical objects — inflatable unicorn balloons and overflows of fluorescent films. Comic quotes-bubbles fix the main challenges, desires, and questions of the townspeople in space, launching a discussion of the festival participants. Thus, a city inhabitant manifests his request for a change in the environmental quality.
